Jewelry Industry during a Pandemic

Beto Cortes

covid-01.png

Not so long ago, the jewelry industry had the possibility to gather all the players from different parts of the world in Trade-Shows, exhibits and events, allowing manufacturers like Sabelli, to show-case our products for buyers from multiple countries; to strengthen relationships with the existing customers and at the same time learn from all those jewelers that presented novelty designs. This practice became a traditional and very efficient method for all of us to do business.

Unfortunately, the pandemic caused by COVID-19 in the first quarter of 2020 surprised us all and caused a dent in our business practices, cancelling all the Trade-Shows and events that previously attracted large crowds, forcing us to find new ways to do business.

Thanks to the technology currently available, Sabelli has been able to shift its communication efforts towards the different digital channels like our own website, Social Media, Whatsapp, among others.

As gold stud manufacturers, being able to show-case our digital catalog is essential to continue and linger our tradition within the jewelry industry.

Even though, we have been able to adapt to this unprecedented situation, we remain optimistic that these national and international Trade-Shows will reopen their doors and thus be able to coincide with all our clients, with new prospects and above all, with great friends.

These are some of the trade-shows in which Sabelli has participated actively and in which we hope, we will be able to attend again soon:

Selecting your Stud Supplier

Beto Cortes

Gold studs are the most basic element of jewelry, they come in different colors, sizes, designs, and are primarily made out of gold and silver. Due to their composition and their common use, studs are very likely to be used as gifts for babies, girls and teenagers, in fact, you are most certain to find studs in every woman’s jewelry collection.

When selecting the best earring supplier, the easiest way to chose them is by considering their design, the price range, or simply by the available inventory. However, there is much more behind the science of selecting the best jewel and this is what we would like to share with you in this article.

Sabelli is considered to be the best stud manufacturer in Mexico, starting with the fact that we are the only Mexican company member of the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC), an organization that establishes standards to promote responsible ethical, human rights, social and environmental practices throughout the jewelry industry; Additionally, we are members of the Jalisco Jewelry Chamber, as well as founders and members of Grupo de Calidad since 1996. Additionally, Sabelli has been a gold jewelry manufacturer for more than 30 years, and since then, our product development has evolved and our designs have diversified, making it to Department Store’s and Specialized shop’s shelves as well as to Wholesalers around the World.

Sabelli has great production capacity carrying out 3 main techniques to produce our gold studs:

Jewelry in Mexico

Beto Cortes

Jewelry is part of our daily life, these shiny objects that we use every day, with simple, complex, and sometimes too eccentric designs are most of our accessories commonly used by men, women, girls and even babies; with components that include gold, silver, and some alloys with copper, tin, copper and some other minerals, accompanied by precious stones and crystals.

Jewelry in Mexico has its origin thanks to the interaction of indigenous cultures, where by the archaeological evidence found in tombs and illustrations, there are representations of the Toltec, Mixtec, Zapotec, Mayan and Aztec civilizations using finely carved jade jewelry, pendants of gold, quartz earmuffs, bracelets, ear plugs and pieces with animal motifs, which were used in religious representations and themes related to death.

It should also be noted that before the Spanish invasion, gold was abundant in Mexico and South America, which attracted many Spanish explorers to the region. As a result of the Spanish Colonization, Spanish artisans taught the natives to work with gold and silver throughout the 16th century. From that moment on, a more complex mixture of metals and more elaborate designs began to emerge and even through time, they continue to evolve.

One of the movements that revolutionized jewelry in Mexico was the arrival of William Spratling to Mexico in 1927, an architect and professor of American origin, who took on the task of using the large silver deposits in the area, for the benefit of the town of Taxco, making it a world-renowned Silver Jewelry destination in the country, where today you can find hundreds of industrial workers and more than 1000 establishments dedicated to the sale of silver jewels.[1]

Today, Mexico represents almost 20% of world silver production, making it the world's leading producer. To this day, more than 10 billion ounces of silver have been produced per year, with an average of 100 million per year.

Gold in Mexico has decreased in recent years, however, the region remains very attractive as an investment opportunity for private initiative. This is due to the fact that experts have estimated that approximately 70% of the Mexican territory contains great geological potential for mining; making Mexico the first foreign destination for direct investment (FDI) in Latin America and the fourth worldwide.[2]

The evolution of gold jewelry in Mexico has been gradual, it has matured over the years and with the spark of globalization, international markets have allowed the exchange of jewelry designs from all over the World, making the offer for the consumer more diverse and sophisticated, leading manufacturers and designers to break paradigms seeking trends that adapt to global needs and in return, produce highly complex pieces.

There is a wide variety of jewelry pieces, from rings, rings, bracelets, bracelets, necklaces, chains, torques, pendants, medallions, earrings, studs, among many others.

Gold studs are one of the favorite jewels for women of all ages, and due to their size and composition, their manufacture must be very precise and of high quality. At Sabelli we understand this very well and for more than 30 years we have positioned ourselves as the main producer of studs in Mexico.

Sabelli is located in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and we pride to be known as leading manufacturers, thanks to the fact that we use cutting-edge technology, we have a wide variety of original designs, our installed capacity allows us to satisfy national and international demand, not to mention that we are the only Mexican Company member of the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC), an organization that establishes standards to promote responsible ethical, human rights, social and environmental practices throughout the jewelry industry and in addition we are members of the Jalisco Jewelry Chamber, as well as co-founders and accredited members of the Quality Group since 1996.

Sabelli covers the demand for gold studs in Mexico and the world, exporting to more than 20 countries, serving a diverse group of clients that include Wholesalers, Department Stores, Specialized Stores and Entrepreneurs. At Sabelli, we prioritize quality over quantity, so we have become specialists in personalized attention to each client, offering solutions to facilitate trade and optimize sales.
